Naked Man Goes Shopping

Oh how I wish I could take credit for writing the following story. The first time I read it I actually laughed til I cried. I have tried over the years to tell the story but it has always come up short.

I remember having the Okemah newspaper...somewhere. Last week while packing and going through "stuff" I found it. Let me tell you I squeeled in delight! I wish I could tell you who wrote it, but the Okemah News Leader didn't post the author of the article. How sad!

Anyway, Here you have it!

Naked Man Goes Shopping
Several people were exposed to a man who was exposing himself Friday morning when he went shopping at the Dollar General Store while being totally naked.
Okfuskee County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Pierce reported that the incident occurred at around 10:20 a.m. and the nude man was identified as (I'm withholding his name), of Okemah. His exact age is unknown, but he was said to be in his early to mid-20s.
Pierce said the man was witnessed by several people as he walked along North Fifth Street and passed the Okemah Police Department, headed to the Dollar Store. The man then entered the store and proceeded to browse around the store.
A witness inside the store said that the man spoke with a clerk at the counter and informed her that he needed a pair of shoes. It was reported that the clerk informed him that he needed more than just a pair of shoes.
It was further reported that the store was full of customers, who were mostly female and some small children. It was also reported that the nude man walked around the store for approximately 10 minutes before he was detained.
A male citizen, who did not want to be identified, finally approached the man and then detained him until an officer could arrive.
Pierce was contacted to respond to the call due to the Okemah Police Officers being tied up with other emergency situations.
Pierce arrested the man and transported him to Okfuskee County Jail, where he was clothed in an orange outfit. The man was booked in jail on the complaint of indecent exposure and creating a public disturbance.
